Tell us a little about John Grafft, Local Compass Realtor.
I’ve helped 3 different generations of the same family buy, sell, and rent real estate. Then they referred me to their friends. Over the past 5 years they’ve been responsible for 17 referrals. I use trust, care, and empathy to help my clients with all things real estate. In 2019 I joined Compass in order to provide global reach with world class representation and tools to my clients. Coupled with property descriptions that convert, studio grade photography, curated videos, and engaging 3D floor plans I offer creative marketing that is always bespoke to the property. What led to your interest in real estate?
Magic mushrooms. Seriously… I was a student at DePaul and looking for my first post-dorm apartment. I worked with 5 different Realtors and each one was worst the last. Finally, when an agent couldn’t sell me an apartment, he tried to sell me magic mushrooms. M..I…N…D B…L…O…W…N. While still attending classes I started working on my business plan. That was over a decade ago and ever since I’ve been helping people with their real estate needs throughout the area. Here is a video about it.

What type of services do you provide?
We help reduce seller’s stress by taking over all parts of the home sale process from decluttering to preparing the home for sale with strategic upgrades and remodeling. Before ever hitting the market I share the property with my colleagues and community to create scarcity and FOMO that reduces uncertainty for our client with fewer showings and disruptions. They are updated regularly throughout the process and long after the contract is signed. At that point we assist with their move by referring packers and tee up the sale for a successful closing. We protect buyers by shielding against stigmatized and undesirable properties that aren’t public knowledge. We respect our client’s budget and never encourage being house poor. We educate first-time home buyers and find off-market homes for seasoned investors. We refer buyers to reputable lenders with competitive rates who always close. We team up with established attorneys who are long-serving members of the community. We reduce landlord’s vacancy rate by finding qualified renters for their properties. We save renters time and frustration by streamlining the leasing process. We have an inventory of high-end apartments and condos along with affordable units that fit their needs.
