Pure Barre is a female-owned fitness franchise that offers barre-based workouts across the United States and Canada at over 600 studios. Each Pure Barre studio is independently owned and operated. 95% of owners are female.
Kali started her career with Pure Barre in 2015 in Atlanta as a receptionist. A year later, she moved to Chicago and started working as a Pure Barre instructor. In April 2022, she bought a venue and opened her first Pure Barre studio in Lakeview and then in February 2023, she became the owner of Pure Barre Old Town.
Pure Barre instructors are trained in the company’s specific workout method to ensure that classes and teaching language are consistent across different locations and that instructors are able to provide effective and safe workouts. Classes are open to people of all genders and age groups over 18.
Kali and Pure Barre offer four types of focused workouts, in addition to a “Foundations” introductory class:
- 1. “Classic” focuses on low-impact, high-intensity movements that are designed to target specific muscle groups.
- 2. “Empower” is a high-intensity, cardio-centric workout.
- 3. “Reform” is a full-body workout that focuses on improving overall strength, flexibility, and balance.
- 4. “Align” helps improve posture, balance, and flexibility.
Kali feels welcomed and comfortable in Old Town while she’s adjusting to her new role as an owner of a multi-location business. “There are still only 24 hours in a day, but I have a great team of professionals that I can rely on. I am learning to delegate. It’s a tough learning curve, but I am in a truly supportive environment”.
According to Kali, one of the aims of Pure Barre is to create a supportive and inclusive community-focused atmosphere where members can feel motivated and encouraged to reach their fitness goals. It’s all about friendship, support and a feel-good atmosphere. It’s a perfect place for anyone to meet new people and to make new friends. She’s been with Pure Barre for her entire adult life, her husband is a Pure Barre team member, and so are a lot of her friends.
Kali also understands the need to recharge and for a life and interests outside of her business. She sets clear boundaries between work and the rest of her life, other interests and hobbies. She has a contract with the Haymarket opera as a dancer for their performance in June. Kali is a foodie and enjoys sampling a diverse range of cuisines and culinary experiences in Chicago.
Old Town is thrilled to share Kali’s story as a new female business owner and is glad that she and Pure Barre are part of our community!
