Old Town Merchants and Residents Association (OTMRA) is pleased to announce that Ian Tobin has accepted our offer to become our new Executive Director, beginning March 27, 2017. Mr. Tobin’s appointment is the result of a thorough and broad search, which included a number of very strong candidates.

Since graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2013 with a Master’s in Urban Planning and Policy, Mr. Tobin has worked as an urban planning consultant for two firms, focusing on market analysis and land use planning, zoning and comprehensive planning processes. Prior to working as a consultant, he was a City of Chicago Mayoral Fellow and worked on various planning issues and research projects affecting Special Service Areas in Chicago. Ian also worked with DePaul University’s Institute for Housing Studies, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, and the Illinois Housing Development Authority.

He is excited about working in the community of Old Town. “Old Town is a close-knit community that has an ideal mix of businesses and residents; I’m so honored to have been chosen as OTMRA’s next executive director and I look forward to joining with the community and OTMRA members in keeping Old Town vibrant, friendly and active.”

Giulia Sindler, President of OTMRA, says, “We couldn’t be happier with the choice of Ian to be the next executive director of the association. He has the right combination of skills in planning, nonprofit management and community relations, and we are looking forward to working with him to continue to make OTMRA the most valuable merchants and residents association it can be.”

In addition to his professional responsibilities, Ian has served on the board of the Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce and recently completed a term as president of the board of the Ravenswood Neighbors Association.

Please join us in welcoming Ian Tobin to the Old Town community!
