Join us for our spring Stained Glass Mosaic Workshop. This workshop, part of our Edgar Miller Design Workshops series, will take place on Saturday afternoon of March, 7th, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. This series will highlight the artistic history, aesthetic, and technique of one of Edgar Miller’s most iconic medium: tile mosaics.
Led by contemporary Chicago artist-designer, Sharon Bladholm, these workshops will allow attendees to learn and practice the process for cut-glass design and tile-work in the style of Edgar Miller. Attendees will select their own tile and cut their own stained glass during this workshop to create their own Miller-inspired fixed glass mosaic piece to make and take home. Each session will also include a brief seminar exploring examples of Miller’s tile and mosaic art pieces that still decorate spaces like the handmade homes today.
This leisure workshop is perfect for craftwork beginners of all ages (minors will be asked to be accompanied by an adult), and use of tools and safety equipment will be facilitated at the beginning of each session. This workshop is perfect for those new to glasswork, and a great way to spend an early spring afternoon exploring your creative side. Experienced glassworkers are also encouraged to join and can learn some advanced techniques and try out some unique glass materials. Come and spend a fun afternoon of learning and hands-on crafting, exploring the aesthetic of tile mosaics. For those who’ve made their own mosaic pieces at a workshop, come on back to create a piece to add to your collection. Light snacks and drinks will be provided during the workshop!
