Explore with us during our summer Handmade Homes Exterior Design Walking Tours! This June and July, EML is offering new Chicago weekend walking tours of Edgar Miller’s history and works of architectural design. Join us for a two-mile excursion to Chicago’s near north side neighborhoods over the course of a two-hour walk, visiting the sites of all of Edgar Miller’s renowned handmade homes and more.

Attendees will visit some of Chicago’s most spectacular neighborhoods in the Gold Coast, Old Town, and Lincoln Park, which are home to Miller’s work and many buildings directly inspired by the artistic rehab movement he helped to pioneer.  We will explore the exteriors of several of these buildings in detail. The tour includes stops at the Newberry Library; Washington Square Park (aka “Bughouse Square”); the Frank Fisher Studio Apartments; the West Burton Place Historic District & Carl Street Studios; the Old Town Triangle & Kogen-Miller Studios; and Lincoln Park’s Mid-North District & the Walter Guest Apartments.
