Wine, great music, fine art and macaroni (!) will take center stage when the Crush in Old Town returns for its 11th year. It’s a truly unique urban wine and culinary fest made even more intriguing in 2013 with the addition of a Macaroni Contest among Old Town’s participating restaurants. This feature of Wine Crush will spotlight unique takes on the classic pasta dish. Attendees are encouraged to sample at food booths and vote on their favorite.
A major draw at this popular post-Labor Day happening, held on Wells Street in the heart of Chicago’s historic Old Town neighborhood, is the afternoon/early evening wine tastings. Under tents, visitors will be able to sample from more than 100 wines.
On Wells Street, between North Avenue and Schiller Street, the Wine Crush transforms the street into an open market featuring wine and food pavilions serving the cuisine (including macaroni) of Old Town eateries. There will also be arts & craft vendors (including juried fine artists), plenty of live music, and fun activities for kids and families.
Suggested donation is $7. All proceeds go to Old Town Merchants & Residents, and its mission of improving and promoting Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood.
