The Spice House (1512 N. Wells) is one of Old Town’s marquee specialty shops. With jars, baskets and bottles filled to overflowing with traditional spices and unique mixes, the aromas are almost dizzying when you walk in for the first time.

The Spice House’s “Saigon” cassia cinnamon, from Vietnam, is much stronger than the others, with a sweet spicy heat like red-hot candies.
